This thread has wandered a bit but the most recent coments remind me how much great sounds and noises on a car really matter. I'd much rather hear the reasuring clacketyclack of my diesel than the silent nothing of a new Lexus. Who would buy a Ferrari if it didn't wail when you get it up in the revs. A great part of a summertime top down drive is the exhaust note that you hear bouncing off the trees. Who says guys are just visually oriented.
