The IDI is not a bad engine. I've worked on one. Changed an IP a couple weeks ago. It's a simple design. The IP's go bad every 100k but they're super easy to change and are only around $250 - $300 for a good rebuilt unit.

But is that truck even a DIESEL?? I've seen lots of old ford duellys with gasoline engines?

... on another note, the last 3 MB's I've bought (the past 1 year on all three) were ALL under $1000. You just have to look.
