No one said your car is not good. It cedrtainly is. Probably a REALLY good one. With lots of the fantastic Euro features the American buyers were cheated out of.

I am sure Enrique at MR MB would liely be the perfect shop to undertake that timing chain maintenance job.

Ask him how much it would cost to pull the valve cover and look to see if it is time. If you decide to have him do it, then ask how much for a chain, guide rail and tensioners.

Everyone said about him that he does the jobs well and for a reasonable price, the labor rates are far below the dealers, and he doesn't do more than necessary.

My WAG is the job could cost from around $600-$1500 and Enrique would probably be on the low side of that figure. You might have to live on Caviar Helper that month, after a job like that, but if it has never been done, it is probably time to bite the bullet and do it.

I don't think it would be a good idea to barter diamonds or jewels for car repairs, frankly. Probably he would want money as most shops would

I wouldn't feel fair bringing my own parts (From Rusty MB parts, German Star etc.) to the shop for a job like that. After all, he is entitled to a fair markup on the parts, as any shop would be.
