I've pulled 4 transmissions in my life. Generally they aren't that hard IMO. Just big and bulky, I would guss rebuilding to be much harder (dont know and dont want to know). I do know the top bolts with a 617.952 required me to hump the engine. HUGE PITA. Probably alot easier to pull eng + tran and do the bolts after
