If you put the "cold" and "hot" aspects of the situation aside for a moment, here is my opinion....


Most factory airboxes are designed to slow down the aitflow to help make the rather quiet. a Cold Air Intake is supposed to hels improve airflow into the engine. Meaning the engine doesnt have to work as hard to draw in the air needed for combustion.


I will agree that Mercedes diesels have an excellent air intake system whick doesnt need anything other than fresh filters...... As long as you change your filters on a regular basis, you are good to go..... There isnt enough of a performance increase to warrant the purchase of a CAI...
