if the orifice is on with the white part towards the mainfold then it's OK,but i think in your first pics it was on reversed.
Once you have that sorted get the fuel filter changed ,you have new leads etc and with the ignition timing checked and adjusted accordingly you should be ready to roll.
There's other little jobs which can be done to ensure these caers run better. i always make sure that full throttle is attained. So many of these cars are driving around on half throttle.
To adjust your mixture,to make it leaner...
The idle mixture is adjusted with the Aircleaner in place.
A 3mm allen key is inserted in the hole in the center of the air cleaner. It's pushed down until the mixture adjustment screw is located and turned anticlockwise to lean it out or vice-versa,
it's not a job for ther home handy person unless they have a CO meter to measure emmisons.

Be cause your car has spent some time not being used, the valves etc are not going to be sealing 100% .
And,as I come across a lot mercedes in this situation I use a remedy that is reccomended by Mercedes.
this is it..
For every 100 liters of fuel ,add 1 liter of automatic transmission fluid it doesn't matter what brand or grade because it all serves the same purpose and it works great!.
Your tank holds approx 90 liters so pour in 900mls next time you need to fill from empty.
