I can't say that it shocks me to see how many people don't know the durability of International trucks. I have had many in my time including my Scout. The gas engine of the Scout usually goes past 300,000 miles because of being over built. The 345 engine is the size of a 454 and weighs 700lbs plus.
The famous powerstroke can just go on forever. International had to 'step' in for ford because fords' diesel basically sucks. Anything early 80's, not too sure of the exact year, is when ford diesels choked the most. As of late, IH & Ford had a joint union to 'assemble' engines into fords at their blue oval plant in mexico.(cost)
I dont know if the engines are 100% american but what is now.

I'm hoping my 617 last for over 600,000, im at 300,000 now. Also because i bought her for $1900, just about to pay for a $3000 trans and i'm just starting to do the basics.
$$$$$$
