So I finally got the time to work on the coupe again, I did a 'test' heat shield out of 22 gauge mild steel, I'm fairly pleased with the results, the LOA is almost 16", I would have made it 2 inches longer, but as I feared it was impossible get it in. I removed the mount for the tranny dipstick and that gave me a little wiggle room on the install, but not much. I did not want to remove the turbo to install this.

The final edition will be 304 stainless.

I'm gonna drive it for a few weeks and see if it hangs tuff.

this is the end that goes toward the firewall... the other side is scalloped to go around the inlet from the turbo

sizing it up for the mounting holes and tabs. its really unobtrusive.
