Yeah I pulled the metal piece out and everything went together nicely. I can't figure out for the life of me why anyone would deem it necessary to put that metal piece in-line. I'll try to take a picture of it tomorrow and see if anyone recognizes it. Starting to wonder if someone had several things apart and that got put back in the wrong place, and now it's missing from something else.
