ugh! seized with gunk you say? mine are wollared out, so I don't think that will be an issue for me... I would NEVER let the floor jack get away from the LCA... and I would have a cage of some sort between me and the spring in case something unforseen would occur. but I have never had an issue doing this on other makes of cars.
