You might want to compare the fully extended length of that spring with the installed, compressed length before you try it. I didn't do any actual comparison between the two states, but as I recall, there's quite a difference between them.. something on the order of it doubling in length. I don't think you can pivot the LCA down far enough to get that much extension without risking the spring slipping of the bottom plate.

But.. what do I know. I'm just a guy with a family that needs me who wasn't guts enough to try that method
