I thought that putting diesel in a gas engine produced the rough-running symptoms and putting gas in a diesel engine produced the need for a new engine. I read something once that it detonated too early or too hot or too explosively or something or another and usually ended up doing serious damage.
We've always put a gallon of gas in the farm tractor (with eight or nine of diesel, maybe more) to make starting easier in the winter... but I thought that running a diesel on straight gasoline was pretty destructive.
Not true?
