I absolutely love automotive trivia/history. It's interesting to learn about engineers and designers, etc.

In fact, Ferdinand Porsche once was employed by Mercedes! He was hired by Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft as its technical director in 1923. He later left the company in 1928 (known then as Daimler-Benz) and subsequently founded his own design bureau in 1931 which developed such diverse devices as the Volkswagen and the V-16 Auto Union Grand Prix racer. Obviously, the rest is history.

AUDI actually began as the conglomoration of four different companies: Horch, DKW, Wanderer and Audi to form “AUTOUNION”. Each of the four “rings” in the Audi logo represents the one of the four manufacturors....
