I think it is just a terrific study! He says he is getting 95 mpg! That is nearly double the amount of the stock bodied car. Of course the rear visibility must really suck and parking it in a parallel space...fuggettabbouttiittt.
It shows how improvements can be made using different design parameters than the factory. The tradeoffs are servicability, visibility from the inside, Parking space required, and total skirting of the impact regulations.
It does remind of the c111 and other low drag cars created back in the era of intuitive visual design. I really dig those little spoilers behind the rear wheels.
