I have had a 91 since 95 and with four Nokian all-seasons , it can't be stopped in snow (I'm in the Chicago western suburbs). Gas mileage is not so hot though. The MBtex interior looks new after 11 years. The stock radio is awful but the cd player sounds good. I have the third seat and can haul kids, stuff or whatever with ease. I know the "old" 4-matics have a dubious reputation for maintenance, but (knock in wood) I've not had a problem. My brother has an 88 300TD that is rear drive only that he says is quite decent in snow. Plus if some one in their SUV nails you on a snowey day, the extra $ for the 300 will be a great bargain.
