I had a spare one in my parts box that was made out of gasket matieral, so I used it. But I havn't driven the car since. Considering the considerable thickness of that gasket I don't see how it can leak.

I have no idea how either part could have changed its shape over the winter. The plate sat on the air box and that part of the intake was just run through a parts washer, nothing that would alter it.

BTW MB must have changed these. The gasket I had kicking around looked old, the package was yellowing, and it was from MB of North Haven. Now they sell the metal ones.
