Michael, wear sensors are not on the rear brake pads of all 124 cars ... normally on ones with ASR. No need to release the parking brake unless you intend to remove the rotors. Replacing the rear brake pads is as straightforward as replacing the front brake pads. Typically a set of rear brake pads will last two or three times as long as a set of front brake pads.
