If there is a CE lamp , then there has to be an offending code...so, I believe your problem is that you are not holding the button long enough..
Try a little longer .....3/4 secs..

Is the CE lamp still ON ? If not , then the code was a temporary/intermittant fault and the DM has cleared itself by driving the car..
