Im planning on extreme weight reduction as well. the seats alone must weigh 50 pounds each. (they do have box springs) Im planning on stripping the entire interior down to the metal. Only reason for doing this. Is to try and get the best fuel econ as possible. Along with an added 20 hp or so (power to weight ratio) Removing the windows and replacing them with plastic will also save you some weight. Removing the doors and replaceing them with plastic would save heaps of weight. The hood and trunk weigh alot too. Im going to be stripping the trim and taking the bumpers off as well (Going to see what the car looks like without them.) Then stitch weld the body to stiffen it up. Put a stiffer sway bar in and then im good to go. Woohoo

1981 240d (engine donor 1983 240d) recently rebuilt engine hurray! - No more.. fought a tree and the tree won.
pearl black 1983 240d 4speed (Converted!@$$%) atleast the tranny was rebuilt.
