1987 560 SEL For Sale $11,500 and 130K Miles

I’ve decided to sell my 1987 560 SEL, the “King of Cars”. The car is silver grey with blue leather interior. It only has 130,000 miles and is in very good shape. Bought it about a year ago and love it. However, I’m not a do-it-yourselfer and when anything goes wrong, my local dealer hoses me bad! Due to our budget, the wife and I decided to get a new BMW 325 xi with a warranty.

Interior is in almost perfect condition. The leather seats had sheepskins on them for most of the car’s life. Only interior cosmetic flaw are two small cracks on the front dash near each speaker about ¾” long. This can easily be fixed by anyone competent. Wood, leather, carpets, mats, footrests, etc. are excellent!

All interior gadgets and power accessories work perfect. Drivers seat suspension was rebuilt and feels like new (previous original owner was about 350 lbs.). Sunroof tilts and slides fine. Power/Heated front and rear seats perfect. Two position memory for front seats and reclining rear bench seat, power telescoping steering wheel with memory, cruise, auto-climate, power windows, etc. all perfect. Only exception is the town and country horn selector switch does not work, but the horn itself works fine.

I installed a new Blaupunkt Tokyo AM-FM-CD player with steering wheel remote control and high-grade co-axial speakers all around. This radio has 2 removable anti-theft security cards. The unit is inoperable without a card and also retains each users station presets and setting on their own card. Original factory radio works and you can have it too if you’re an OEM purist.

Engine and power train are great. Starts hot or cold fine. Runs smooth and strong and shifts tight. This car is a ROCKET! New rear self-leveling hydraulic shocks installed. Only flaw is a slight oil drip from the motor. About a quart every 1500 miles is needed. Tailpipe exhaust is clean with no smoking.

Exterior is very good. Car has great curb appeal. The paint has a few touch ups from the usual parking lot scrapes and a bird poop spot or two. All original paint with no bodywork as far as I can tell and was told by the dealer. I also put on new Yokohama AVS-db V rated all-season tires. This is about the perfect tire for the car as they are specially designed for a QUIET ride (hence the db name). They are also excellent in the rain and snow and make for a pretty decent sporty drive on dry pavement too.

Don’t mess with a lesser Mercedes for the money! This is best car MB made in 87 and you can buy it for $11500 (it cost over $70,000 new). The car is located in Southeastern PA and can be seen after work or on weekends.

Please, no correspondence is needed if you are not seriously interested in purchasing my car.

Thanks for your interest.
