1987 300D Sedan

Well, I finally bit the bullet & bought one. Only has 115,000 miles & seems in reasonable shape for a 20+ year-old car.

Took it to my local indy MB specialist. He thinks it's in very good condition. He told me that the valves could not be adjusted because this model engine has hydraulic lifters & were not adjustable. He also told me not to use Diesel Purge as it would loosen all of the carbon deposits & it would get in the oil & cause problems.

Is there any truth to this? He may be right about the valves, but I don't see the logic on the Diesel Purge.

What do you think?
