Split boots are a bad idea, if you have driven with the boots torn, then they are contaminated with dirt and dust, and the whole axle should be replaced. There is a flex-boot system called the "Astoria Flexx Boot" (do a search on the forum about it)....thats an option too. Or visit dieselgiant.com and look around, he has a DIY on how to install them.
