Front Sunroof Seal W114/115/116/123

After 3 trys and destroying 2 seals, I finally have the answer. I recommend Meyle for the front and OEM for the back. The Meyle is more flexible.

The reason many times the roof won't close after installation is because there is a small amount of the inside of the seal not in the tiny space. The way to be sure is to gently lift the bottom of the seal, once you think you have it in, and push like hell w/your fingers. When it seats, you will feel it. (The bottom of the seal has a few ribs which slide in w/o too much trouble. It's the last ridge that will cause much grief). You have to do this for the entire length of the seal. It has to be completely seated to allow the roof to close completely.

Since this seal from hell was never designed to be installed w/the sunroof frame attached to the car - hence the glue on the original seal - this is the only way the roof is going to close properly after a new seal is installed.

Your sore fingers will feel better after 4 days.

Good Luck
