That was simply a matter of the .960 being in better tune than the .961... mechanically, they are identical in almost every way. The only thing I was able to figure out that was different was the coolant pipe on the back side of the water pump housing is different between the two, and the location of the motor mount brackets was slightly different (I think). But that was it. Same injection pump, cam, intake, exhaust, you name it. Identical power ratings, too.
