Both my 603 engines have been pretty consistent at 1% per 10,000 miles with EGR disabled. My 602 had been approx 1% per 3000 with EGR, but I just killed the EGR, and I'm very curious what the next oil analysis looks like (gotta wait a while though... another 8kmi before it's due for a change.)

could this simply be because of the efficient 4v per cylinder design of the 603? With more oxygen to burn there is less unburnt diesel (black smoke) That may be a large cause of it. Also inline six cylinders are naturally balanced as well, Not sure how that matters, but it helps them rev more freely.
