Slide the little screwdriver around the inner rim of the actuator cup until you get under the ring. It's tapered, so you'll get under it eventually with a little fishing. Then you can pull the ring a little toward the center to reduce its diameter. It will come out. I'd suggest a gauge temporarily in place of the firewall switchover valve to know where your setting is at, and what you are changing it to.
