I know alittle about the canadian market, (see my signature), and I can honestly say this, the mercedes are cheaper in the us, hands down, you can get a better example cheaper.

Unless you find a immaculate car, or a southern car you are gonna have to deal with rust, the key points on the W126 are the front guide rod mounts, the jack points, and the frame rails at the front.

2 of my mbs are southern cars, 2 others Im in a constant battle with iron oxide. and of course my landcruisers are magnets for rust, (in fact parking my landcruiser next to my mercedes causes the rust to jump from the mercedes to the truck.

The rust on the first mercedes didnt look to bad, and those diesel leaks are pretty common. but with 300K km i think its a 1500 car max.

Mercedes in montreal seam to cost alittle more than the ones here in london ontario.

I just sold a 300 SD with 300K km on it, good body minor rust but near perfect underbody and suspension, with a mint interior, and a excellent engine for 3K,
