its apart finally, more help needed
tonite amongst all the mosquitos i was able to move the tranny like i was instructed using a wedge type portapower cylinder, and take the retaining ring off and pull the spring loaded side cover open and in my hand, then the related parts inside, including a double ended rod (ball ends). brought it into the shop and looked at it for a bit, then proceeded to remove the snap ring and pull the piston and sleeve out. . . i;ll be dammed. broken in small pieces. . . just like you guys said. how impressed am i ? totally !
however, inside the now large hole in the side of the transmission there is a rubber seal, that seals the cylinder part of what i just removed. its about a inch plus inside diameter. it appears that someone did not have it aligned properly when it was last installed and part of the outside thats suppose to be pressed into the bore, is hanging out. do you suppose that would also be a problem ? ? ? if so, how the heck can i just order that ? plus the b2 piston and plastic sleeve ? i would probably need a breakdown of the transmission to identify it or is my description good enuf for the average m.b. parts guy ?
i have a couple pictures of it i would be happy to share with anyone for an honest opinion. . . .
im pretty concerned about that seal. . .
all in all, this was quite an easy take-apart for what its worth. . . im getting anxious to take it for a ride. . .
