MikeD is correct and I should have clarified that. I rub only a tiny amount inside the inner wall of the pivot bearing - just enough to lightly coat the surfaces. That's really all you need for a lubricant anyway (thickness of a hair is enough). If you put too much in it (heavy finger full), you'll get what Mike says. I have always coated/put some grease in my pivot bearings and so far have not had a clutch disk slip on me because of that.
