What if I'm a rich guy and buy a tesla roadster which is an electric only car and is charged by plugging it. Do I have to pay road tax?

The prius is heavier than most cars of it's size, so it's damaging the roads more, though it's paying less tax to maintain the roads.

A diesel car is heavier than the equivalent petrol, so it's damaging the roads more, though it pays less tax.

The idea on taxing customers based on the amount of fuel is pretty flawed imo.
