A colleague reacted to the picture by saying, "Why do Muslims do this to their daughters?" I am not sure how this association with Muslims came about. To begin with, the practice of female circumcision is encouraged, but not compulsory, according to three out of four main schools of thoughts of Islam. One the fourth pronounced it is a must.

I guess some would interpret it as a call and others will not.

At a conference in Tehran on Wednesday entitled “The World without Zionism,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for Israel to be “wiped off the map.” Now, you may tell me that it was an issue of translation and he meant that it was hoped that Israel would disappear but that is up to the individual belief. Knowing their past relationship, what would you think? Now, we may disagree and if you uttered a phrase similar to that directed at me, I could easily assume it is your typing while drunk or in a bad mood. OTOH, if it was someone I have had a bad history with, well, it takes a different tone.

He still has to get congressional approval. Will he or won't he. That is the question.
From your first link:
"Female circumcision is not practised in Islamic countries other than Egypt and Sudan and possibly exists in few others. Women of Mecca, Medina, Najd, the Persion Gulf, Iran, North Africa, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, etc are not circumcised. This is established fact as well as first hand knowledge - I am a gynaecologist and I have dealt with all those nationalities."

As to Ahmadinejad's comment, I believe he meant what he said, that he hopes Israel as a Jewish state would disappear (naturally). IMV there isn't a single thing that Iran has done (physically or verbally) that would justify a war in any way.
