As far as the dog doo, I don't think anyone has figured out how to do this on any large scale. I would stay away from it personally.

As far as regular compost piles, my favorite is get about 10' of 3' or 4' wide fencing, the kind with the wires welded every 2" one way and 4" the other way. Just put that into a circle and you have a nice 1yd compost pile (+-). Cheap and light weight and works very well.
