Same thing happened to the one on my dads car a few months after he got it, he was just driving along at 30mph on Lake Drive.....so like 1400rpm or so.....and all the sudden loud squealing....his alternator had seized.

Interesting that it would happen to another dieseler so close by!

I just swapped out a 1 year old re-man alternator I got at Advance auto.....it had a bad bearing and voltage regular....the rotor was wobbling all over! I swapped in a German Rebuilt Bosch (from online) wayyyyy better! I'd strongly recommend using one of those.
