Actually a lot of times, we're just plain trying to get the news out. And no we're not nonpartisan or neutral, because we are, in fact, human, at least until they can figure out how to replace us with robots that work without pay or benefits. Turns out you don't have to pass any sort of special test or be any sort of special evil to be part of the media. Truth be told, most people in the media either aren't clever enough or don't have time to mastermind some sort of manipulation of the masses.
But heck, it's a lot of fun to blame the general depravity of mankind on The Media.
