I've never had any real issues with tires. I go to Discount Tire....and watch them like a hawk while they work. They tighten the lugs properly with a torque wrench to 80ft/lbs in the correct pattern and are all professional. The one thing they always forget to do it glow the engine properly when starting it. I put a sign in the car now explaining it when I go there. Sigh.
Other than tires its been close to 2 years since my car has ever even seen a shop. There's very little I won't do myself now. Mainly just suspension/alignment stuff since I don't have the right equipment for it.
