Assuming the GP light isnt stuck on.....if it is, go to dieselgiant.com and follow the testing procedure for the W123 on his page.
When it stumbles keep cranking the starter until you are 100% certain it is running. That extra 2-3 seconds wont hurt the starter.
If it wont start even then it is almost certainly the pre-filter oring.
