I've thought about that, but the generator would only be for emergencies. I've found some pretty small generators for cheap on ebay, but if I got a Webasto I could use it every day, not just in emergencies.

Plus there is a large difference between a block heater (just warm enough to start the engine) and a Webasto (up to near operating temp on start up).
