video conversion option

"It's very cool having widescreen video, wi-fi net access, picture manager, etc. but getting DVD's ripped and transferred onto it can be a PIA as there isn't just one pieces of software that can deal with copy protection and transfer to Apple's video format."

I found some software from a company called 99bytes. They have a DVD to Ipod or PSP converter for $20 that will get around most DRM. I load the DVD into my computer DVD drive, run the 99bytes software, it rips the movie. I choose the destination file (mp4) to be in the "Movies" folder for itunes. Then go into itunes and "add file to library". It probably converts 80-90% of the commercial DVD's out there. The files play great on my 5th gen ipod video. Each movie is about 700KB to 1.2gb.

I have heard but not tried using some shareware called "handbrake" to do the same thing.
