85 300 TD. After replacing the water pump and coolant expansion tank I filled the system with Zerex G-05. I filled the upper radiator hose to help get more air out. When running the temp shoots up to 100 degrees. The upper radiator hose is hot and vey firm. Lower radiator hose is cold. I drained the coolant thinking I have a thermostat problem. Thermostat tested ok but is marked 87 degrees so I will be changing that out. My question is, is the little bleed tube that is visible when you disconnect the upper radiator hose supposed to connect through the thermostat housing? When I disconnected the t-stat hosing cover I noticed alot of crud in the little passage so I cleared it out but I cant blow through it and I cant blow through the little bleed tube at the outle where the upper hose attaches. I've been scraping both out with drill bits and coat hangers but still no flow. You can see the hole in the top has water in it but it is not draining through into the thermostat housing. If these are supposed to be connected I think it may be causing an air lock.
