My real question was how to get the antenna out of the car. The nut or whatever that secures it as it goes through the fender will not come loose. This I can not figure out.

Your reference though gets me to the reason I am trying to get it out in the first place. Some jerk broke the mast and I was going to replace the whole thing with a non-power antenna. I looks like you can just buy the Mast. Is that true? If so what are the estimated $
