You didn't state where the noise was originating, and it's not always easy to determine. These cars can be full of creepy intermittent noises. My SDL has a faint chime (one time) that will occasionally sound off after ignition. Have never found the source and have since dismissed it as some sort of personal W126 hearing disorder that I have contracted.
