Larry,
You can turn off that blasted "tap to click". There should be a check box under the touch pad properties in the control panel.
I hate it too. Many times, in the act of picking up my finger and laying it back down on the pad, the crazy thing interprets it as a tap and clicks away somewhere I don't want to go...
