Hard to say if a Spit is scarier than a "B". I was 18 when I had the "B". I recall basically feeling like I was sitting on the road. One's legs are out of sight almost flat in the "tunnel".

The Spit is kind of like driving a grocery shopping cart. At speed it bounces around. Mine has Laycock overdrive ( and its a MkIII with the probably best performing 1300 pre-smog engine) so it scoots. Looking to the rear, there is only about two feet from your head to the rear bumper. You are almost invisible to anyone in a full size SUV. Last time I had a tailgater who thought going 5 above the speed limit wasn't good enough for him.
