Call me dull ("OK, you're dull", sez the Diesel List) but I like the gray grille. I have experimented with a number of painting expeiments on cars in the past, most recently the taillight surrounds on my old BMW E28 (looked pretty good, but a little "80's"), but I personally think that the gray is a nice accent, especially on your black car. Besides that, regardless of the quality of the prep and paintwork, if you drive your car with any regularlity you will face issues of rock chips and pitting, and because the plastic underneath the paint is gray, I would think those marks would stand out pretty bad. I always see these cars on places like ebay where there was some failed experiment in monochromatic paint schemes and the like which just fall apart after a while (although those are usually in colors like bit-me red), and your car looking so nice and original...
Just my $0.02.
