Hopefully we're not dealin w/a crack here - maybe just a failed HG. Have been reading FSM articles on 601, 602, & 603 and one article talks about porous cast aluminum in the area of the front cyl/chain housing that is unfixable. Rebuilts are hard to find around here - if necessary will get one from metric (ouch).
Good advice on dealer parts - I will make sure our shop here understands that. I have set aside about $3K for everything just in case. That is until my wife finds out...
