Hi and welcome to the obsession! First thing to do is to join the Mercedes Club of America (MBCA.org) and your local chapter. Once you join youwill find lots of people who share the passion for these cars. They run tech sessions that will help you learn about the car's systems.
You should also look over the DIY sections on this site as well as use the advanced search feature on the site to answer any questions you have. This site has lots of great information.
