You can get a shift kit (K1 spring kit) for the W124's tranny, maybe there is also one available for your car? It's basically an upgraded spring set for the 2-3 shift valve in the valve body in the tranny. On the W124, it's not too difficult to replace. Definitely sorted out my 300E's 2-3 flair.
