I spray my shaft down real nice with pure Silicone Spray once in a while. A dealer did this for me years ago. it works well and last a year or so. I di it while operating a bit so it works into the inside.

does not lube gears I know but ...

I am very careful not to get any anywhere -- I put rags down under everything.
