Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner for 103

Well, I've been at it again. This time it was a dual snorkel air cleaner for the ole 300TE 4-M. I've got a few pics of it in the galleries, hopefully a mod will link them for me again. (thx btw)

I started by cutting the stock snorkel off of a spare air cleaner. Next I trimmed it neat and used 3 rivets to attach it to the lower section of another air cleaner. I was able to fit it in between two of the clamps that hold the lid roughly pointing towards the brake master cyl. With it solidly riveted I cut out the opening to match. There was a little gap at the bottom so I used a propane torch to reshape it a little. With the opening cut and trimmed neat I used a black silicone to seal all of the crevices left by the union of the two pieces. The last thing to do was trim edge of the lid a bit as the top of the new snorkel was higher than the stock location and interfered with the lid.

With the air cleaner finished I installed it and marked out the opening on the firewall. I used a cutoff wheel on a die grinder to cut out the opening. After several trial fits it was cut to size. I used an OE air cleaner adapter, the thingy that holds the air temp sensor, with the air temp sensor boss ground off. That is what is seen sticking through the firewall in the pics. With everything lined up and fitting well I used some door edge guard to cover the sharp edges of the opening. To finish the mod I cut the rearmost firewall seal even with the blower housing to allow the new snorkel to pull cool fresh air off of the windshield.

I did this mod to complement the 70mm throttle body I recently installed. With the new setup there is definately more intake noise when the throttle is hammered. It feels a little more willing to rev now but not life changing. I still have yet to get the custom exhaust on it yet which should complement the previous intake mods very well.
