sounds more like you might have popped a vacuum line out. i did this the last two times i changed my oil and fuel filters. check all the connections near the filter housings and lines and see if one came out in the process.

don't know about lack of power before you changed the filters though, but my car isn't exactly peppy going up a hill anyway.
